Call for Papers
117th Annual Conference on Taxation
November 14-16, 2024
Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI
Detroit, MI
The 117th Annual Conference on Taxation will cover a broad range of topics in tax policy and public finance. We welcome submissions from the fields of accounting, economics, law, and public policy and administration, as well as research from other fields or by practitioners that relates to these topics.
We especially welcome submissions that can speak to current challenges facing policymakers such as the effect of digitalization/e-commerce/remote work on public finances, minimum taxes and international tax law, the child tax credit and other family policies, and global challenges to government finances.
You are invited to submit the following: individual papers to be integrated into sessions, proposals for complete sessions of papers, and proposals for panel discussions (panel discussions are just discussions; they are not based on research papers). Please note that full session proposals are mere suggestions of groupings. The conference committee reserves the right to consider and accept individual papers from a complete session rather than accepting the complete session. Submitters of complete sessions are required to enter abstracts for each paper in the session.
Submission deadline is Friday, April 12, 2024. Decisions concerning the inclusion of papers and sessions will be announced mid-July. All presenters, including members of panel discussions, discussants and session chairs, must then register and pay a conference registration fee to attend and present.
You are also invited to volunteer to be a discussant or a session chair. Decisions concerning discussants and session chairs will be made later. All discussants and session chairs must then register and pay a conference registration fee. The deadline to apply to be a chair or discussant is July 8, 2024.
Graduate students are invited to submit in any category (single papers, complete sessions, and panel discussions) and volunteer to be a discussant or session chair. In addition, graduate students may submit single papers for consideration for the NTA Next Generation Session and posters for consideration for the Graduate Student Research Forum. The NTA Next Generation Session consists entirely of graduate student papers. The Graduate Student Research Forum is a poster session that allows students to present their research one-on-one and in a small group setting. The deadline for the Next Generation Session and the Graduate Student Research Forum submissions is April 12, 2024
New this year, all participants will need to create new profiles to submit their work. Please have the most up to date email and affiliation for each author or speaker you add to the submission. If you do not have the information, please collect all the details and then submit your work.
For instructions on how to submit each type of submission, click the question mark (?) icon next to the heading. All deadlines enforced at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
